Mike
Mike Angus is the owner and founder of Yachttech
Mike started a rigging service working out of his van in 1981 at the local marinas around the Sanich peninsula. He started building masts in his back yard on the Sanich peninsula in 1984. Over the next 4 years he expanded out of the available space in his home and move the operation to its present location in Sidney BC in 1988. In the quarter century of experience running Yachttech Mike and is considered one of the major experts in yacht rigging in North America. In that time Mike not only developed Yachttech but also provided the base training that developed the entire yacht rigging industry on southern Vancouver Island.

Bob
Bob manages design and product development at Yachttech.
As part of strong mechanical background Bob studied aeronautical engineering, electronics, aerodynamics and fluid dynamics at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and worked in the aviation industry performing inspection, maintenance, modification and restoration of commercial, private and antique aircraft in Alberta and British Columbia. Bob worked as well for many years as a professional mariner in a variety of positions including, design, survey, and construction of surface, submarine and shore based structures, as well as vessel operations, salvage, and under sea search and recovery. With a strong background in computers, Bob also maintains and programs the various software systems, and CNC machinery used to produce the engineering and parts involved.

Camilla
Camilla runs our rigging and paint departments.
As a Lifelong sailor, Camilla has worked on many tall ships including the 175 ton, 115 ft Robertson II; 99 ton, 112 ft Lady Washington; 130 ton, 145 ft Californian; and achieved the positions of gunners mate and bosons mate aboard the 175 ton, 103 ft Hawaiian Chieftain. As well as having a strong history in marine restoration, Camilla worked for many years as a sailing instructor and continues to hold an ISAP instructor’s certificate. Camilla continues to study design at Camosun college, working toward a career in naval architecture.

Josh
Josh is the go to guy on the shop floor
Josh studied machining in high school while working with his father doing motorcycle restoration work. While racing BMX, Josh honed his mechanical expertise repairing and modifying bicycles. Josh builds and repairs guitars as well as being an accomplished musician. Holding a Manufacturing Technicians Certification from Camosun College, he easily takes on any technical issue presented to him.

Andrew
Andrew is our newest member of the team.
Andrew trained in Japan as an automotive tool and die finisher and worked his way up to team leader for an automotive parts manufacturer in Ontario. Andrew, after moving to BC, developed his knowledge of the marine industry working as a yacht broker and on his own vessels. With a fine hand and a keen attention to detail Andrew is an excellent craftsman.
